This animation was made for Foosball Radio for the launch of their new podcast. I created this video using Cinema 4D R17 / Photoshop and After Effects. This motion design originally started as a static image but I could not rightfully just have just an image on the screen while the voiceover and music bed played, the impact would have been completely lost.
The concept was to tease the podcast and to “Meet The Hosts” The image of the hosts needed to be altered as the original shot was not “let us say” ideal for production so that is the reason for the sketched treatment. I decided to throw together a quick animation (like really quickly) and just animate a camera in this simple scene. The custom model and field are part of a larger (yet to be released) animation that I’m working on, but I wanted to see the feedback we would get from this sequence and the killer voice-over work by executive producer and professional voice actor Tom Robinson.
I rendered this puppy using my render farm of about 5 workstations and it took roughly 8 hours for all of them to complete the job. The reflections and the ambient occlusion usually bumps up the render time but I like the results. Honestly, I did not want to display the advanced “cooler” version of this scene because I’m waiting for the launch of the podcast in October 2018 to reveal that. If you are seeing this in the past you can check out my channel for the “cool” version. You will notice that the camera moves are really drawn out and not edited perfectly. I know it seemed really lazy of me and you’re right, but it was what I needed to get the project published. Originally we had slated about 45 minutes for the design and execution of the static element but I ended up spending around 4 hours from start to finish and produced this promo.
Note: I think I don’t need to say I used Photoshop on all of my projects. I mean is there a project that does not have Photoshop in the workflow!
What do you think about this quick promo? I’m putting more content out shortly.
